April 2012
Façade work begins

Thanks to a $75,000 grant from the Western Fair District's Community Enhancement Fund, the London Potters Guild could finally begin the façade restoration of our building. We have worked very hard to make the inside of the building beautiful, functional, and in keeping with the heritage of the building. Now we are excited to begin the work to restore the outside of the building.

Scaffolding went up late March and the transformation so far is nothing short of amazing. We are replacing the slate, adding new windows on both levels, new door, painting, lighting, and signage. It will be beautiful, and just in time for FUSION, May 25-27! Photos below show the progress to date.

May 2012
Upper Façade Complete, Store-front Next

As the scaffolding on the second level is removed, a façade of new slate, bay window, and new mill-work creates a stunning new/old face to London Clay Art Centre.

The restoration team of MacFayden Design & Build now turns its work to our store-front. The front window will be extended to their original height, bringing more light into the store. New mill-work and doors will create an inviting entrance to our store and studio.

Summer 2012
Façade Complete

The façade is completely restored in time for the FUSION conference in late May.

The restoration team of MacFayden Design & Build has done an amazing job returning the façade to its 1910's look. The front window has been extended to their original height, bringing more light into the store. The windows have been replaced on both floors. The slate is all new, and the bricks have been cleaned. The wood is a rich mahogany.

The front left window, which has been boarded over since we bought the building, is now windowed and gives us double the display space to the outside.

We now move our efforts to completing the second floor. Work will begin in the fall.
