Call for Nominations - Board of Directors

The nomination process for the 2024 Board of Directors of Clayworx is about to begin. The election of 3 new Directors will occur at our Annual Meeting in January, 2024 - we are getting an early start so we can field the best slate of candidates ever!
If you or someone you know is a dynamic self-starter, energetic, and community-minded, the upcoming positions on the Board of Directors could just be the opportunity you or someone you know is looking for.
The Nomination Process
As mentioned above, we will start the nomination process long before the voting takes place next January. Here’s how it’ll play out:
  1. August 1 - We send out the Call for Nominations.
  2. August 1 to October 1 - (The 2-month Nomination Period) - You have the opportunity to send in your nominations to Mahyar Garmsiri, the Chair of the Nominating Committee at the following email: mahyar.g13@gmail.com
  3. October - The Nominating Committee will meet to vet the submitted nominations.
  4. November - The Nominating Committee presents the list of selected nominees to the Board of Directors for approval.
  5. Early December (21-35 days before the Annual Meeting) - We send the Notice of Annual Meeting to the voting members of the corporation, which will include the list of candidates approved by the Board, along with each candidate’s biography and their reasons for standing for election.
  6. January, 2024 - The voting members of the corporation will elect the 2024 slate of Directors
How to Nominate
As per our Bylaw:
  1. Clayworx invites submissions of the names of persons to be considered for election to the board.
  2. All nominations shall be in writing and shall be accompanied by:
    1. The person making the nomination: your name and contact information;
    2. The person being nominated: write a brief letter with your name, contact information, consent to act as a director if elected, and a biographical outline with relevant skills (you could include a resume!)
  3. Candidates will be selected based on “the skills and selection criteria as established by the board” [see below].
The Skills and Selection Criteria as Established by the Board
The Board at Clayworx has been working diligently to lay a solid foundation for our future. As such, the Board recently reviewed the skills of its current Directors and determined the complementary skill sets needed for the coming year.
As we are about to enter an exciting time of organizational growth, we are now specifically looking for 2-3 passionate community-minded leaders who come with experience in finance, fundraising experience, and technology. Of course, we don’t expect one person to possess all those skills. After all, we are assembling a team and we are asking for your help in doing so.

Although we are looking for clay artists and non-clay artists alike, we are specifically looking for nominees with the qualities and skills listed below. By the way, you can nominate yourself! We are looking for a self-starter, who is energetic, and community-minded; individuals who ideally are/have one or more of the following:
  1. passionate about charities, especially ours!
  2. expertise in Finance (i.e. an accountant)
  3. expertise in Technology
  4. general Fundraising experience, preferably in the non-profit sector
  5. expertise in Marketing, Sales, and Web-development

If you think YOU are the person we are looking for, or if you know of a person who might be a good fit for us, don’t be shy. Let’s have a discussion. This just might be the opportunity that will launch the next phase in your life.
There are people out there who are looking to make a difference in their community. There are people who would just love to volunteer to help the right cause. We are building something exciting. We just might be the that right cause you are looking for.

Are you excited yet? Let us know.
Once again, please use the format stated above to put together your application and submit it between August 1 and October 1 (The two-month Nomination Period).

Send your nominations to:
