Clayworx is fully accessible

Committed to providing a fully accessible facility
From the beginning, we built accessibility features into the facility because we recognize that 1 in 7 Canadian adults has a disability; the number is expected to grow to 1 in 5 by 2036. Accessibility features include:
  • automatic openers on exterior doors
  • accessibility lift
  • accessible water fountains
  • accessible washrooms
  • parking space for people with disabilities
  • bright lighting
  • fire extinguishers at accessible height

Removing additional physical barriers
In 2017, we were awarded funds from the Rick Hansen Foundation through its Barrier Buster infrastructure improvement program. With the funds we were able to remove additional physical barriers in our facility, by purchasing:
  • a wheelchair accessible potter’s wheel
  • automatic opener on the large interior fire doors
  • sound absorbing acoustic panels for people with hearing impairments that reduce background noise and improve speech intelligibility
The panels help create a well-defined acoustically alive space makes it easier for people with vision loss to navigate safely using echolocation techniques.
For people with hearing or visual impairments, or who are deaf we have:
  • augmented sound equipment
  • technology that allows real-time speech-to-text captioning
