    MAKERS MEET: a Webcast Workshop Series

Members of the London Potters Guild are invited to meet the artist in person and be the live studio audience at the London Clay Art Centre for a special rate of only $35 + HST. ​

Workshop Description
During this demonstration, Tony will be making 2 and 3 piece pitchers. He will go through the process of making the two or three sections as well as the pulling of double handles both right side up and up side down.  The same technique used for making the pitchers can be used in the making of vases.
There will be a recording available for two weeks for registrants after the live event.

Tony Clennell, MFA, RCA, is a second generation potter that has been making pottery for over 35 years. He has taught workshops in Canada, USA, Japan, China, Korea, Wales and Italy. He has a Master of Fine Arts from Utah State University and is a member of the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts. He is author of “Stuck in the Mud” a book of irreverent tales, BS and nonsense.

Saturday Nov 22   Dauma Stirbyte [London, ON]
Daumante Stirbyte was born and raised in Lithuania in 1992, but moved to Ireland in 2007. She graduated from the National College of Art and Design, Ireland in 2016 with  BDes(Hons) in Craft Design, specializing in ceramics.
She was an international artist in residence at the London Clay Art Centre (ON) from 2017 to 2020, where she still works as an instructor. Since moving to Canada Daumante has taken part in numerous group shows, exhibitions and fundraisers. Her piece ‘Inflorescence’ was named Best in Show at Fusion’s 2018 Emerging artist exhibition (ON). Represented by The Gardiner Museum in Toronto and The Benz Gallery in London. She’s currently working from her home studio in London, ON. In this two hour demo Dauma will demonstrate how she uses press molds to create some of her hand-built pieces, as well as the making and assembly of more intricate details that follow after the main form is complete. Finished work examples will be shown for comparison.
