KIDS & TEENS CLAY CAMPS
MARCH BREAK & SUMMER

Campers unleash their imagination, learn pottery techniques, reconnect with old friends and make new ones at Clayworx Pottery Camps!
Please find the registration section below the camp descriptions.
Enjoy a 10% automatic discount if you sign up more than one child or sign up for multiple camp weeks in a single transaction.
Early drop-off (as early as 8:15am) is available for full day and morning camps for an additional $25 ($5/day).
Late pick-up (as late as 5pm) is available for full day and afternoon camps for an additional $25 ($5/day).
Half-Day and Full-Day camps for children aged 8-13.
Full-Day Camps are Monday through Friday on the following weeks:
  • March 16th - 20th (March Break)
  • July 20th - 24th
  • August 24th - 28th
In the morning, all campers will learn hand building and sculpture techniques, decoration styles, and try their hands at the wheel.  Each student will create between 5-6 pieces of pottery. Projects are chosen by the instructor for fun and skill development. All work may be slip decorated and will be finished with a food and dishwasher safe glaze ready for pick-up three weeks following the camp.                                    In the afternoon, kids will take part in a variety of other crafts, games, and activities to encourage creativity, learning, and above all to have fun!                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            All levels of experience are welcome.  Materials are included, but be sure to bring a peanut-free lunch and snacks.

Half-Day Camps are mornings from 9am-12pm or afternoons from 1-4pm, Monday through Friday on the following weeks:
  • July 13th - 17th
  • July 27th - 31st
All levels of experience are welcome.  Materials are included, but be sure to bring a peanut-free snack.
It is possible to enroll your child(ren) in both the morning and afternoon camps on a given week as a full day option.  In this case they will need to bring a peanut-free lunch in addition to any snacks and will be staff monitored over the lunch hour.  The difference between this option and the full-day camps listed above is that it will be a full day of making with clay.

***Please note that the age range for camps is relatively wide to allow for siblings to attend the same camp session(s).  All clay projects are scalable to both the age and experience level of the campers on an individual basis within the same camp.
Half-Day camps for Teens aged 13-17.
Half-Day Camps are afternoons from 1-4pm on the following weeks:
August 18th - 20th (3-day) - Ceramic Jewellery
  • In this 3 day short camp you will decorate a variety of pre-made greenware jewellery blanks.  Blanks for earrings, pendants, hair clips, magnets, beads for necklaces and bracelets will be available to choose from.  Blanks will be available in several different clay body colours - white, cream, and red clays.
  • Decorate your pieces using underglazes and/or Stroke & Coat glazes.
  • Learn how to bend and add wires to your pieces for pendants or linked pieces.
  • Choose your jewellery findings for your pieces (provided).
  • Once fired, you will pick up your pieces along with any choosen findings, assembly instructions, and a mini tube of glue to affix pieces to findings if required.

August 24th - 28th - Wheel Boot Camp
  • Want to learn how to throw or get better at throwing?
  • For new throwers through to those a bit more experienced, this camp is designed with the goal of improving the quality and consistency of your work.
  • Your instructor will help you work through any throwing obstacles you may be encountering and get you throwing taller, bigger, and with more consistency!
  • This intensive is all about practice, practice, practice.  You won't be subject to "precious pot" sentiments as it is an all-throwing, keep-nothing class - no work will be fired or kept.
  • Camp includes use of unlimited reclaimed clay and  classroom tools.  Please feel free to bring your favourite, most used tools if you have any.  As well, please bring a small towel (tea towel) and wear an apron and/or wear clothes that can get dirty.
